Claude Design Made the Office Suite Obsolete

I built and ran an entire training deck without ever opening PowerPoint. The real unlock isn't the slides. It's the design system underneath them.

Last week, I ran an AI training session with Futurpreneur.

The deck I presented was built entirely inside Claude Design, using my own brand system. When it came time to present, I didn’t export anything. I ran the live slideshow, with my speaker notes, straight from Claude Design during the call.

No PowerPoint. No Google Slides. No Keynote. No export button at all.

And somewhere in that session, it hit me: I hadn’t opened a traditional office suite to build a deck in months.

Haven’t Built a Deck in Months

We’ve all heard developers say they haven’t written a line of code in months. Claude Code writes it; they direct it. The same thing happened to me with decks and documents, just more quietly. I haven’t built a deck from scratch in months.

Since Claude Design came out, I’ve been experimenting with it constantly, and my Word and PowerPoint usage has quietly collapsed. It wasn’t a conscious decision. There just stopped being a reason to open them.

That’s usually how obsolescence actually arrives. Not with a dramatic switch, but with a tool you simply stop reaching for.

A Design System, Not a Document

Here’s the part that matters, and the reason this is more than a novelty.

Most AI tools hand you a document. Claude Design hands you a design system. It builds a consistent visual language around your brand and then applies it across everything you produce.

If you’ve spent any time in or around marketing, you know how hard brand consistency actually is. There’s a beautiful brand guidelines deck somewhere that almost nobody follows. Every presentation drifts. Every one-pager looks a little different. The gap between “we have a brand system” and “our outputs actually look like it” is where a lot of brands quietly leak their equity.

A tool that holds your brand and enforces it across every artifact closes that gap. That isn’t a slides feature. It’s a different category of thing.

One Brand, Every Output

The range is what makes it stick.

The same brand system carries across documents, PDFs, slides, HTML artifacts, and even video. I used Claude Design to produce the launch video for MediaPlan, then handled the editing with the Descript MCP inside Claude Cowork. Same brand, different medium, no rebuilding from zero.

That’s the real shift. Your brand stops being a folder of assets you copy from, and becomes a system that travels with you into whatever you make next.

Where Design Fits in the Stack

None of this replaces the part that matters most.

My workflows now tend to start in Claude Code or Cowork, where the real work happens, and move to Design for the finishing touches. But that sequence only works because of what comes before it: the thinking. The angle, the argument, the actual point of the deck. Claude Design builds a beautiful, on-brand container. It doesn’t decide what goes inside it.

That’s the line I’d hold onto. These tools can take an enormous amount off your plate, from the code to the layout to the export. The moment you let them do the thinking too, you’ve handed over the one part that was ever really yours.

AI can do a lot for us. But don’t let it replace our thinking.

At least for now.
